From 1813, parish registers begin to place John and Martha and their growing family at Lodge Farm, near Odiham, with John described as a labourer and later as a “suckler”, almost certainly in connection with pig‑rearing.
The baptisms of Jane (1813), Martha (1816), Anne (1819), William (1821), James (1823) and George (1825) show the family settled here for more than a decade, even as the spelling of their surname evolves from Brackwell/Brachwell to Bracknell.
