By 1841, John (c.1770–1845) and Martha (1786–1863) Bracknell had left Lodge Farm and were living at Hook Common, sharing a household with their married daughter Ann (now Ann Martin) and her infant daughter Martha. The 1841 census places three generations together in one of the small cottages on the Common, a shift from the farm‑based household at Lodge.
This Hook Common phase marks the closing years of John’s life. When he died in 1845, aged about 75, he was still a resident of Hook.
